Sheriff’s Office spokesman Gary Davidson said no shots were fired and no one was injured in the robbery, which took place shortly before 4 p.m. at the E-Cig Source on North Volusia Avenue.
No customers were in the shop at the time of the robbery. Davidson said the suspect burst into the store, pointed a gun at the lone employee present, and demanded money. The suspect then made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Sheriff’s Office units, assisted by Orange City Police Department officers, arrived on scene at around 3:53 p.m. and began a search for the suspect and his vehicle, but they did not locate him.
Davidson said the suspect is described as an older white man standing about 5-foot-6, with an average build and light-colored hair, wearing khaki pants and a dark-colored zip-up hoodie with a gray undershirt, glasses and a baseball hat.
His vehicle appeared on surveillance footage to be a late model with dark tint — either a Toyota RAV4 or a Honda CR-V, Davidson said.
The suspect concealed his face with a rag during the robbery.
