SMOK Stick Prince Starter Kit
The SMOK Stick Prince Starter Kit is a tube mod that really comes up swinging. Sporting a 3000mAh battery that can hit up to 100W at full charge using its direct output design with single-button operation, this mod is as powerful as it is simple.
Joining the Stick Prince is its corresponding TV12 Prince tank. Its glass component extends horizontally in a sort of dome-like shape, making it seem sort of alien in appearance. But a little tweaking is necessary to fit a whopping 8ml of juice.
Ease of Use
As a tube mod, the SMOK Stick Prince uses the same standard controls as any other. It’s cool, hexagonal firing button is surrounded by an LED indicator that flashes faster as the battery drains.
The Prince’s tank has the same swivel top-fill design as the Baby Beast, making it virtually leak proof and spill proof. And of course, adjustable airflow is built in. Thanks to its 8ml capacity, refilling won’t be a frequent concern.
Big things don’t always come in small packages. Although smaller than a box mod, the SMOK Stick Prince is 85mm tall and 24.5mm wide. Add another 63mm for the tank, and you’re left with a pretty large device
Running at 80 to 100W (depending on battery status), the Prince can eclipse some box mods in terms of power. Its M4 quadruple coils have massive wicking holes to absorb enormous amounts of ejuice. The end results are massive clouds and intense flavor.
Like all of its products, SMOK continues to dominate with every new device it creates. The Stick Prince is hands down one of the most powerful vapes of its kind. It brings the sub-ohm experience of a powerful box mod to users who don’t want the trouble of fumbling through settings.
Anyone who wants to start vaping at sub-ohm or step up from small pens should consider using this device.
SMOK Priv V8 and TFV8 Baby Beast Starter Kit
The SMOK Priv V8 and TFV8 Baby Beast Starter Kit uses a box mod design while being simple enough for novice or intermediate vapers. With the ability to hit a maximum of 60W and a voltage range of 3.4 to 4.2V, the 18650 battery (not included) uses a direct output system, gradually reducing its voltage/wattage as the battery drains. Battery life itself is trackable with the top LED light.
Joining forces with the Priv V8 is the TFV8 Baby Beast tank. This tank is a must-have for vapers, making its inclusion in the kit that much more enticing. The Baby Beast uses a swiveling hinge top-fill design, making refilling extremely simple and mess-free. It also comes with a Baby M2 Core 0.15 Ohm coil and a Baby M2 Core 0.25 Ohm coil. The large mouth piece ensures huge draws, while its adjustable airflow gives unparalleled control over how that draw feels.
Ease of Use
Despite being a box mod, the Priv V8 follows a similar control scheme to sub-ohm tube mods. The direct output voltage takes out the guesswork of changing settings.
Another great feature is the large trigger. While most products use a small button to fire up the vape, this button is big enough to be fired with the entire hand for a more comfortable feel.
Filling up the tank is a breeze. Just swivel open the top cover, pour the juice through its flexible, rubber opening and then snap it shut again. The rubber is an excellent barrier against leaks (even if it gets tipped over while open), and its flexibility is great if you’re using an eyedropper to refill.
At 34mm wide and 80mm tall, the Priv V8 isn’t super portable, but it’s still quite small and easily fits inside a pocket.
The powerful battery, combined with the top-of-the-line Baby Beast tank, leads to incredible cloud and flavor quality, along with a solid battery life.
At the same time, it’s not quite as powerful as many box mods or even certain tube mods, but at a maximum of 60W, it’s more than enough to get the job done.
Overall the Priv V8 is the perfect hybrid between a vape pen and a box design; however, this also means it’s not really suitable for advanced vapers.
Eleaf iJust 2 Starter Kit
The Eleaf iJust 2 Kit looks just like your typical tube mod. Constructed with durable and shiny stainless steel and its 2600mAh base standing proudly 81mm tall, this vape projects a powerful image.
Like many of its kind, the iJust 2 relies on a direct output system to reduce its energy output as the battery drains. It also adjusts its wattage to suit the installed coil. This makes it a great choice for beginners who want a sub-ohm experience without manually adjusting things like wattage and temperature.
Its 5.5ml tank is equipped to use 0.3 Ohm (included) and 0.5 Ohm, 0.15 Melo, Atlantis or Atlantis 2 coils, along with adjustable airflow. Consequently, this kit provides an excellent sub-ohm experience.
Perhaps its biggest drawback in the design department is the “adjustable” airflow. While it is possible to control the airflow, it has to be done using a silicon ring, which is then slid on top of the air holes and awkwardly twisted to cover or uncover them.
Ease of Use
As far as user friendliness goes, this device is pretty much the same as any other mod of its kind. Just press the fire button five times to turn on, then five to shut it off. Holding the button will heat up the vape. It can’t get much simpler than that, especially since there are no complicated settings to sift through.
The tank itself is designed to be filled from the top or bottom. The only arguable downside is that it can get a bit difficult to squeeze an eyedropper into the filling holes without spilling a little bit. Still, at 5.5ml, filling isn’t exactly something you’ll be doing frequently.
The iJust 2 shows some amazing performance. Its diverse coil options allow for a varied experience (even with its flawed adjustable airflow system), while its 2600mAh battery generates clouds and flavor that could measure up to some of its bigger brothers.
Despite being a tube mod, this device is fairly large and heavy. The base itself is 81mm tall and 22mm in diameter. But once you add on the 67.6mm tall tank, that’s when the size really becomes obvious.
Unfortunately, its weight and height make it difficult to comfortably fit into a pocket without feeling a tad awkward – although it can still be done.
Although lacking in portability and sporting an awkward airflow system, the iJust 2 is a great starter vape or step up from simple vape pens.
Joyetech AIO Starter Kit
The Joyetech AIO starter kit is one of the simplest vape pens available. Although thin at 19mm in diameter, it’s actually quite tall, measuring 118.05mm in height. It also has a weaker 1500mAh battery, which is designed to change wattage based on which specific coil is inserted. This is unlike many other tube mods, which decrease their power to match the battery level.
The tank itself isn’t interchangeable, holding 2ml of e-liquid. Unfortunately, this means refills will be a frequent occurrence. It’s specifically designed to work with its included BF 0.6 Ohm coil, which makes sense for a fixed tank.
Dispite its simplicity, however, the tank still boasts adjustable airflow at the top. Its mouthpiece has an internal spiral design, providing an excellent draw that protects against nasty spit-back. This component is also childproof for added safety.
Battery life is easy to determine with its simple LED indicator. On a nifty side note, the tank itself lights up for some extra flare. Even though it doesn’t add anything in terms of function, it’s still something fun to look at.
Ease of Use
The AIO’s single button controls (as with any tube mod) are simple. Five clicks to turn on and five to turn off. Since the tank is attached, tank maintenance is much simpler than with some other models. This also makes it virtually leak proof.
Since there’s only one type of coil that fits the AIO, it makes coil replacement easy and seamless.
Overall, the AIO is one of the easiest tube mods to use.
Although 118.05mm seems like a lot, keep in mind that the tank is built in. Other mods without this feature can easily exceed 150mm after the tank is attached, not to mention their diameter always exceeds the AIO’s 19mm.
Needless to say, the AIO is a perfect choice for people who want to carry it everywhere easily and discreetly.
Because of its small battery and maximum wattage of 28W, it can be difficult to vaporize some liquids which may not work well at such low settings.
Nonetheless, the device seems to pack a higher punch than expected for a vape of its size and power. It actually does a decent job in both the cloud and flavor department, even if it won’t keep up with some of the larger tube mods out there.
The AIO vape pen has a few shortcomings that may be deal-breakers to some people, but it gets that job done for new vapers who want the simplicity of a vape pen with the power of a sub-ohm.
